The church’s month-long Mystery Pals program culminated in a potluck luncheon on Sunday, May 25th. The program this year was structured by matching households with each other, assigning a Mystery Name to each participating home chosen from famous Unitarian Universalist figures. Letters were sent back and forth between each paired household for four Sundays, as participants shared clues about their own identities and learned a bit about the famous UUs they were assigned.
In all, 22 different households participated in the program, and although there were some snafus (I accidentally assigned two households the historical UU figure Michael Servetus), those involved in the program seemed to enjoy sharing new connections with fellow congregants. About 40 people attended the potluck lunch on Sunday (5/25/25) and happily located the place tags at various tables in building 4, where they were seated with their mystery pals. Although some pairs figured out the other’s identity before the lunch, there were a number of surprises and good conversations. Fellowship over the shared meal lasted a couple of hours.
A special thanks to Kathy Beggs, Sylvia Wheeler, Elizabeth Granado, and Mary Wright for helping set up before the event and cleaning up afterwards!
